Home Theater Overhaul

My trusty of Marantz MM-9000 power amplifier spent the last few years dying one channel at a time and I've been running all my speakers off my receiver for close to a year. I bought a bunch of Fosi V3 power amps almost a year ago for a future active speaker project that is looking more future all the time. It seemed silly to just sit on a pair of 300 watt (4 Ohm) mono-blocks, and two 300 watt (4 Ohm) stereo amplifiers when my main amp was dead. My speakers are all 8 Ohm, so these work out to being the same 150 Watts as the amp they are replacing. You only get the full power rating with 48v power supplies, which I have on the mono-blocks and one of the stereo amp. The second stereo amp is on a 24v power supply, but is only driving a pair of Paradigm Mini Monitor v2 surround speakers and should be more than adequate.

The amps are not the only pieces of gear I've been sitting on. I bought a Wiim Ultra about a year back to use as a preamp in the aspirational dedicated 2-channel system I mentioned above. It is a top-notch streamer and I've been wanting to set it up for a long time, but time never permitted. The same applies to the top-tier Sofabaton remote/hub I also bought a while back to replace my poor departed Harmony. I put the other one I bought in my family room a long time ago, but just never had the time to deal with the main system.

So, all that being said, guess what I started doing today?

My only HT "overhaul" lately was finally replacing my ancient old 1080p 45" screen with a decent mid-range 55" 4k (LG C5 OLED).

... and yeah I still have an old Harmony, but with HDMI eArc for pre/pro power+volume control, I find that I'm ok with just the TV's remote for 99% of what I do.

I feel you Haywood!! I am still trying to decide what to replace my Integra prepro with!! I sit downstairs looking at my 1080P JVC after watching TV on 4K Sony OLED and think " Should I get a new 4k PJ? I research...go around and around and end up at the same place!!!
Diddly squat gets done!! :(

PS; Almost forgot...one of the channels of my 22 year old Bryston 3bst has gone silent!!!

uh... woodworking? ;)
I bought this hardware a year ago when tariffs were threatening to drive prices up permanently. I knew I wanted to build new speakers based on one of Flint's active 3-way designs, so I grabbed it. Plans for those speakers got delayed when my shed went over budget and took way more time than I ever imagined. Those delays were partly because it just took longer, but more so because I was having health problems. Then I got laid off.

So I'm sitting on a pile of brand new gear collecting dust while I've got a dead power amp in my main system. Since I'm not exactly tight for time at the moment, it seemed like a good opportunity to stop procrastinating and just do it. I was so slammed before getting laid off that even the new remote was sitting brand new in a box for more than a year.
