    Class D

I disagree. This is fantastic for folks who want active crossovers, which have real advantages. I am looking at building a pair of new primary listening speakers later this year using two 100x4 DSP amplifiers. That DSP is a powerful tool, because it contains a PEQ as well as a crossover. It...

    Interconnects

I've used good old fashioned RG-6 in a pinch and my only real complaint was that it was stiff as hell and hard to work with. I don't use very many analog cables anymore, but most of the ones I do use are from Blue Jeans Cable.

    Interconnects

Component cables are just 75Ohm coax, so they work fine for audio. Ditto for composite and digital coax.

    Class D

Am I the only one who thinks newer generation Class D amplifiers are the best thing since sliced bread? They are small, efficient, affordable, and sound good to my ear. I also LOVE that you can now get multi-channel amp boards with built-in DSP for building speakers with active crossovers. I...

    What Are You Listening To?

I've been listening to Rush's last three albums today (Vapor Trails, Snakes and Arrows, and Clockwork Angels). I know this might be a controversial statement, but my favorite era of Rush was their final one and I think Clockwork Angels was the best album of their entire career.

    Roon for Room Correction?

Plex does exactly the same thing and has for years.

    Incredible Covers...

I've been digging these guys lately. They originally came to fame when they were just kids doing a cover of Enter Sandman. Flash forward ten years and Metallica had them do a cover of it for their Blacklist album. They paired up with another vocalist for this one for some reason. Anyway, I...

    Will Purchase A New Plasma

I tend to be in the "buy a great display and use it till it croaks" camp myself. Never did the plasma thing though.

    Media of Choice?

Streaming. The picture quality gap between streaming and disc is nowhere near what it once was and the convenience of streaming is hard to beat. The main problem is that it is so easy to buy movies sitting on the couch with a remote. I'll go to Vudu to watch something I own and think, "Let me...

    Laser TV

I plan to finally build a dedicated media room in the basement in the next few years. By the time I get that done, I will be ready for a new display and the combination of cost, screen size, picture quality and light rejection make these projectors hard to beat.

    Laser TV

My next display will likely be a short-throw laser projector.

Turning Pro speakers into home speakers

    Bad reception vs. TV wear-n-tear

We went entirely to streaming years ago and never looked back.

    Finally 100% in on streaming!

YouTube Music was very disappointing after years of using Google Play Music. The phone interface is okay. Not great, but passable. The TV interface is completely useless. All it does is send you back to YouTube.

    Finally 100% in on streaming!

I am seriously considering a second music streaming service. I get YouTube Music with my YouTube Premium subscription, but I'm not all that wild about it. I hate to spend money on something I already have, but I am considering either the Tidal integration with Plex or Amazon Music HD.

A different sort of speaker - Semi-Outdoor Patio Rig

Those are mine and I absolutely LOVE them. They sound way better than any outdoor(ish) speaker has a right to and I really enjoy listening to music out on my back porch every summer.

What are you watching via streaming?

We've hardly watched anything other than YouTube lately. Mostly politics (Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh, Blaire White, Bill Maher), travel, history, and music. We spend most of our time these days with books and music.
