Sony bluray players and HDMI-CEC “power-off TV” problem?

I’ve tested 3 different Sony bluray players on 3 different TVs (samsung, sony, LG). Turning “on” the Bluray players does turn ON the TV set, but turning “off” the bluray doesn’t turn OFF the TV. Any idea if this is a Sony bluray issue and would switching to a different brand blu-ray player (such as Panasonic or LG) would work better?

I’m half tempted to just buy one and try it, but I feel I’ve returned too many things to Best Buy/Amazon/Walmart this past year, so thought I’d ask if anyone has ever had success getting a Blu-Ray player to power down the TV first. Maybe it just isn’t possible?

I have a Sony 4k BD player attached to a Sony 4K set I’ll check it out

Appreciate it, but no need to if you haven’t checked yet.

I was playing around with HDMI-CEC some more and while I never solved my initial problem, I ultimately ran into too many inconsistencies. At one point I thought maybe I had it where it would more or less work. But then sometimes the TV and Receiver would get out of sync after using the Blu-ray Player. (Power syncing, that is; not lip syncing.) Anyway… I’m giving up. I was just trying to make things easier for people who seem to have trouble with the concept of a Harmony remote control. I have failed.
