netflix 45 min 4K show is 18GB

When I got my 4K TV and was boosting my Netflix subscription to handle the 4K shows, Netflix themselves basically said if you don't have a 25Mb/s connection, don't bother. The high resolution stuff looks great, but all those little pixels mean there's some serious data getting pushed.

Holy crap! That is a LOT of bandwidth. This is why I am so interested in the new movie server/download standards (i.e. Vidity).

Considering that ATSC standard for 1080i content is 18.1Mbps, it really isn't that much bandwidth at all.

There is a reason nobody streams in MPEG-2. An uncompressed 1080p Blu-Ray rip with lossless audio runs about 25Mbps.
