Flash Boys

This one was referenced elsewhere a few months ago.

It's an amazing in-depth examination into the heretofor secret workings of high-frequency trading - and the effort of one man (and his team) to understand it and to create a stock exchange that could not be gamed by it.

The author not only names names, but digs deep into their personal histories, and in so doing introduces us to an amazing ensemble of characters.

A true page-turner in every sense of the term.

While historical in its approach, it is very much "now." And even though it is dealing with the skimming of billions and billions of investors' dollars by HFT, it leaves you with a sense of hope in the end.

Jeff,
I read Flash Boys a few months ago after seeing the piece on 60 Minutes. It really is a great read. I made the mistake of reading some of it to my wife who summarily pronounced "Holy Shit, let's get all our money out of the stock market, they are all a bunch of crooks trying to screw us!!"
