You sound like somebody who hasn't seen Holly in a french maid costume. Rawr.

Free TV Services, plus a Free TV

Some folks are so cheap every nickel that passes through their fingers retains their fingerprints. Enough to sustain a business? I don't know. I will say we do use that Pluto TV app (from the dude behind this idea), and we do find it decent if you're just wanting that feel of scrolling channels...

Free TV Services, plus a Free TV

Sorry to say it, but I think it will find a market. Once upon a time, way back in the early '00s (if I remember right), there was a computer company that sold very inexpensive computers because they would display advertisements to the user. They weren't super popular, but some (who couldn't...

TV - Wall Mount Height and Angle?

I always thought the rule of thumb was eye level while seated should be at about 1/3 of the way from the bottom of the screen. That seems to result in a fairly comfortable angle. I can't stand this "put it up at head height while standing" thing that a lot of houses have going on.

    Mandalorian discussion thread!

Space, exciting and new Bounty hunts and young Grogu Space... but in light scifi... More Star Wars, sometimes it's fun too! It's the MANDO... You can't hide nor can you run... The MANDO... Giving Beskar to everyone...

    Mandalorian discussion thread!

I kind of liked the mystery angle, but yeah, it didn't exactly move the football. I thought Christopher Lloyd was great, Lizzo and Jack Black however, nope. Jack Black is a great comedy actor and this wasn't his role. Lizzo is a miserable actor. Just no good at all. I'm beginning to wonder if...

    Mandalorian discussion thread!

Well, the second one only had that hole because it was still under construction. Still, you're not wrong. Star Wars has always given great weight to the Rule of Cool. Why does the Millennium Falcon have the cockpit over on the side? Because it looks cool. Why does the X Wing change the wing...

What are you watching via streaming?

We started watching Tulsa King (Paramount+). Sly Stallone is a mafia capo who gets out after doing 25 years and his bosses send him to set up shop in Tulsa. So far it's pretty amusing- there's a nice amount of humor in it. While it's sometimes dark humor, it's a lighter crime show than stuff...

    SiriusXM vs Amazoid Prime

Yeah, I enjoyed the SiriusXM product. I can't stand the company. My VW also has a CD player in the glove compartment... I've never used it. I don't think I've actually used a physical CD in a vehicle for over a decade. I do generally like Apple Music- when bundled with other iCloud services...

    Which song hurts just right?

It's that one. The songs that just grab you, and maybe because of previous life events or whatever, they just hit different. They may be sad songs, but for your own reasons they just hit in a way that dredges up some old feelings, and mixed with life in the meantime, it's a good kind of hurt.

    Which song hurts just right?

I saw this meme and it got me to thinking: Which song(s) leave a mark like that on you? You know, the ones that, when they're almost over, you want to hear again just so it cuts you that little bit more? For me, I'd say (in no particular order)... Joe Bonamassa, "Different Shades of Blue"...

    Universal Remotes?

Yeah, most folks don't need something to run a complex A/V system. For those who do, they may have things like lighting and whatnot as well, so they went for the higher end stuff anyway. The days of people having a stereo hooked to the TV are over for most people. They're pretty happy with a...

    Universal Remotes?

With the demise of the Logitech Harmony units, I'm not even sure what I'd do if I needed one. It's nice that these others are using the activity groupings, but in this day and age I'm not sure why programming is still a pain in the butt.

    Gear Proliferation

Right there with you. Sitting at home, not hooked up to anything right now, I have a 50" Vizio TV, a pair of Paradigm Titan bookshelf speakers, a Denon 3808 A/V receiver, two Klipsch tower speakers, and a Klipsch center channel. Honestly, I ought to just take everything but the Paradigms to...

    Goodbye to DirecTV

I must say, DirecTV never had their thing freeze up in the bottom of the 10th, bases loaded, tie score, Goldschmidt at bat, 2 outs, and 2 strikes. Then when I got it to work again he'd already launched a walk off grand slam. Dammit. I liked a lot about DirecTV, but the cost was just getting...

    Goodbye to DirecTV

I don't think we'll ever see fiber down our street. Just not going to happen. But Spectrum is actually quite good where we are. I get something like 325Mb download speeds- not even close to what folks with fiber get, but more than enough to stream 4K to multiple TVs at once.
