Energy Take Classic 5.1 or Sonos Arc

I can't comment on the performance of these in your use-case but will say that I am a big fan of the Sonos ecosystem.

If just 5.1 speaker setup, does Dolby Atmos do anything?

Without "overhead" speakers there is no benefit. Assuming your receiver is set to 5.1 you'll get 5.1. The Dolby Atmos format is backwards compatible so the 5.1 format is embedded. LINK Decoding and rendering of Dolby Atmos content is managed entirely by the A/V receiver. The UDP-20x series...

    Official Sim Racing Thread

I have a TrackRacer TR80 with the TrakRacer Rally style non-reclining seat. The kit came with a seat slider and bracket to tilt the seat. If I had it all to do over again I'd still go with a rigid seat. My monitor stand is attached to the chassis which IS something I'd do differently if I...

What are you watching via streaming?

Season two of Slow Horses on Apple TV+ is not nearly as good as season one.

I lead to believe that sim racing, especially with AI cars, tends to be more limited by CPU than GPU bottlenecks.

All of that said ... I do think it's worth it in the end to use triples. I don't use my setup nearly enough but when I do, I really like the feeling of being "inside" the simulator. I also believe there's a gameplay advantage to be being able to see that extra 1/3 of the screen, specifically...

I have three 27" 2560 x 1440 monitors. An 49" ultrawide is exactly the same height as a 27" but twice as wide ... so 2/3 the total pixels as a triple 27" setup therefore easier on the GPU assuming all other things are equal. I worry more about VRR certification/compatibility than response...

What are you watching via streaming?

Speaking of streaming ... I've finally cancelled my DirecTV live streaming service. I just couldn't stomach paying >$120/mo any more. When baseball season starts I'll get get an account with Fubo TV for $75/mo because that's the only way to get all of the Astros games.

Apparently trained humans are better/more accurate and more consistent at judging pressure applied than small ranges of motion. The brain-to-muscle processes needed to detect and apply a tiny bit more or less pressure are faster and more accurate than those needed to move a stick 1/128th of an...

That's normal The load cell measures pressure not movement. On your calibration screen you should be able to set what percentage of pedal pressure equals full braking in the game.

What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

I seem to recall that there is at least some AppleTV+ content that does not require a paid membership.

Slow Horses on AppleTV (not sure if it requires +) is really good.

What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

I'm a fan of streaming but it's a convoluted mess figuring out what's available on what platforms at what cost.

What Movie(s) Did You Watch Today?

AppleTV is free but they have a paid tier called AppleTV+. TV content on AppleTV+ and very few movies are included at no extra charge, but the significant majority of movies cost extra to buy or rent. Movie availability on all the platforms is unpredictable. Some blockbusters and high demand...

    Shopping for a budget Projector

Seems like you're leaning towards a TV. I don't blame you as you don't have to worry about as many variables. The only objective advantage a projector based system has is the size to cost ratio. For movie watching I personally just seem to prefer the subjective "feel" of a projected image vs a TV.

I get it but I would only even consider it if I were also moving the seating a little closer.

    Shopping for a budget Projector

Personally, I definitely would NOT down-size the screen. I don't use my HT much for ... reasons ... but if I did replace my current projector in the light controlled HT for a 4K model and don't want to break the bank I'd be looking real hard at BenQ, BenQ HT3650 for $1500 BenQ W4000i for...
