    Ground loop hum caused by cable box via hdmi connection

    I have what I believe is a ground loop issue caused by the cable box which is connected to the tv via hdmi.     How close to the listening postion?

    I live in a small studio apt. of approx 400 sq. ft. How close must a sub woofer be placed to the actual listening position to overcome the room based effects. My sub is a SVS 20-39 PB+. All advice is welcome.

    Can a outboard amp improve the sound of an ipod?

    I currently connect my iPod directly to a set of AKG 701's. Would there be any advantage in sound quality in adding a quality external headphone amp, given that the iPod to headphone direct connection generally supplies adequate volume.
