    Arylic B50 Integrated Amp

They also make an otherwise identical preamp-only version of it called the BP50 for $99.

    Arylic B50 Integrated Amp

I decided to build a new pair of speakers for my daughter as part of my overhaul of her bedroom. These will be a back loaded horn design featuring a 4.5" Fostex full-range driver, which I'll start a separate thread on when I start building them. I wanted to get her an amplifier that would...

    Heeman's New DIY MTM Project

Franklin's designs are incredible. I'd go with something he designed over anything I'm going to find in a store.

    Heeman's New DIY MTM Project

I was pretty close. I estimated $3K +/-. Those are going to be INSANE for that money. I want to build something that nice someday.

    Heeman's New DIY MTM Project

Wow. I just went to Madisound and ran the math. Those things are going to be an absolutely insane value for that kind of performance.

    Heeman's New DIY MTM Project

I went back thru the thread to make sure I didn't just miss it. What drivers are you using? Are you using external electronic crossovers? What is your plan for amps?

    Heeman's New DIY MTM Project

You are doing some really nice work. It might just lend a little validity to Franklin's claim that I went a bit insane in my own shop by way of massive overkill. I love the way these are turning out.

    New Remotes! Sofabaton x1s

I bought the U2 for my parents about it year ago. It works great. The difference between the U2 and the x1s is approximately the same as the difference between the Harmony 650 and the Harmony Ultimate. If you were happy with the 650, you'll likely be happy with the U2 and the U2 supports...

    New Remotes! Sofabaton x1s

My Caavo Control Center was dying and my decade-old Harmony was not in the best shape either, so I decided it was time to replace the remotes in both of my systems. With both Harmony and Caavo gone, the only game left in town without going down the pro-installer rabbit hole is Sofabaton. The...

    What Are You Listening To?

I'd probably give it 7.5. I do think it is the best thing he's done in years. Is it the best thing he's ever done? Absolutely not. Did I really enjoy the album? Yes. I love the vibe and find it super relaxing. That is especially important when my inner child is in a state of apoplectic...

    What Are You Listening To?

I've been listening to David Gilmour's most recent album, Luck and Strange. It is the best thing he's done in years. His daughter Romany sings on a couple songs. Really haunting voice. Love it.

    Heeman's New DIY MTM Project

I have an 1100 CFM two stage dust collector and two shop vacs with cyclone separators and HEPA filtration. It cuts down on the dust a lot, but there is no way to entirely avoid those fine particulates. I generally wear a respirator or mask while cutting wood, but I don't like to wear one all the...

    Heeman's New DIY MTM Project

I guess that's what dust collection and air filtration is for! This makes me want to do another speaker build really bad. Give that expensive dado set a workout.

The workmanship, detail, and complexity of those speakers is super impressive.

My Reference Grade 2-Way Active Loudspeakers

My Dad had a pair of those original Energy speakers back in the 80s and they sounded fantastic.

The only downside to MDF is the dust. The dust is the worst. Obviously, this has nothing to do with material selection. MDF is clearly the best material. I just hate the dust. Did I mention I hate MDF dust?

    New Family Room Acoustics

I'm not sure how that would look. The panels you have up there are pretty nice looking. If you do the black, I would consider running it all the way to the ceiling. Or maybe not. What I'm getting at is an isolated stripe across the wall might look weird.

    TCL 98" TV...at Costco for $1499

The newer TCL sets are quite nice and that sounds like a crazy deal.
