Learned on CBS this morning that these guys have 76 Grammy awards between them! First album in 17 years.
 
Okay, Vulfpeck are virtually unknown (I've mentioned them here before) but here's a clip of one of their songs, from a three-week sold-out series of shows, in some place called Madison Square Garden. But what I really want everyone to notice, is that the whole crowd is singing along with the disjointed instrumental break! There's hope for us yet!

Jellyfish, live in the studio. No autotune, no overdubs, no click track, all acoustic instruments; just four musicians who knew what the f*ck they were doing. Damn this is beautiful.

To warm up for each show, they would sing the chorus of "Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas in full harmony over and over and over and over to get their voices going and hit peak synchronicity on pitch and intonation. They worked HARD to have the chops, because back then it was expected for bands to deliver on stage what they provided on their studio recordings.

Same. I recently ripped all of their CDs (and that includes all of Donald Fagen's solo albums too) and put every song in a playlist on my phone. I am discovering some fantastic songs that I've either never heard before or prematurely dismissed. I've always considered myself a fan but I'm even more of a fan today.
 
An interesting afternoon. I saw this "demo" of the new Nord Organ 3 (I have the Nord Lead I and Nord Electro II, which has fantastic B-3 emulations), by a collection of monsters led by an organist named Kevin Powell, whom I've not heard of:


I haven't heard this much in-the-pocket fawnk in a long time; DAYAM! After watching the EweTube, I added Kevin Powell to my Tidal list, and played his latest album (live in a NYC club). I heard a LOT more of his gospel influences, and yet no organ! Granted, there could be are probably a lot of "Kevin Powell"s. But only one showed up in Tidal.
I played it while I was pickling some onions and doing dishes, and then an incredible preach/tune from him, about his Momma pushing a shopping cart, that just left me in tears (I'm not kidding).

So, two elevated experiences in one afternoon, and I'm still not sure if they're both the same guy. Wow.


EDIT: Okay, I watched another follow-up video that ewetube suggested, and again I'm floored, where are these guys coming from??!
